Library Research Using Primary Resources

STRATEGIES FOR FINDING PRIMARY SOURCES

Use library catalogs to find books, videos, manuscript materials and the locations of newspaper and journal titles.

To find individual newspaper and magazine articles, see Indexes, below.

1. USE THE ONLINE LIBRARY CATALOGS

The online library catalog is BU:

¥ A Web-based catalog:

BU Catalog (PILOT) can be found at http://library.bloomu.edu

Other Catalogs:

UBorrow
PALCI

The Andruss Library Pilot catalog is accessible via the World Wide Web. The catalog includes entries for books, periodicals, newspapers, government documents, microfilm and microfiche collections, company reports, maps, musical recordings and musical scores. The Pilot program is used to identify materials, determine circulation status, and then identify by call number these materials within the library's collections.

Interlibrary loan (ILL) is a procedure whereby one library (such as ours) may borrow from another for the use of its clients.
