Dormitory Dedication

This ceremony formally dedicated the two new women's dormitories on campus, East and West Halls, which in 1970 would be renamed Montour and Schuylkill Halls.  The principal speaker was Amedeo J. Caruso, Executive Director of the Pennsylvania General State Authority which oversaw the construction process.  Also participating in the ceremony was the reigning Miss Pennsylvania, Marilyn Cutaiar March, from Havertown, PA.

Homecoming Parade

The Homecoming Parade was one of the largest ever held at Bloomsburg, with 13 floats from the College, several more from Bloomsburg High School, eight marching bands, and a number of open cars.  Although delayed by rain the parade still went off as planned, but because of the late start the football game kicked off while the parade was still moving.

This giant birthday cake by Phi Sigma Pi won Fourth Prize for best float, which amounted to $15.

The Senior Class float which won Second Prize.  The Husky is actually wearing a long beard to show he is 125 years old, even though it looks more like his tongue is hanging out.

A float by the Day Women's Association, female students who lived off campus and
commuted to class each day.  They modeled popular clothing styles from the past 125 years.

The float by the student newspaper, the Maroon & Gold, showing the passing of the Lamp of Knowledge for 125 years.

The Freshman class float showing changes over the years.

The Varsity Club float took fifth prize,
representing sports serving Bloomsburg for 125 years.

A somewhat graphic float by the Pep Committee with a cannon to
"Blast the Marauders," which is just what the football team did when they beat Millersville 20-6.

Homecoming Dance

The final event of the 125th Anniversary Celebration was the Homecoming Dance held in Centennial Gym, featuring the music of Lee Vincent and his orchestra.  As the Maroon & Gold later said: "It was a week to remember!"
