You must have the following to be able to access the network:
  • A Laptop Computer.
  • Apple Macintosh OSX 10.3 or later (current is 10.4.10)
  • A 802.11G (Wifi) airport wireless card
  • An Account to use.
Students should use their login and password from "MyMail" (the Bloomsburg University Student Email system).
Faculty and Staff need to use their "BUAD" account on the wireless network.

Here is the overview directions from the MAC OSX Help File. We'll need to configure the first three on this list.

So, open Internet Connect in your Applications Folder
Then pull down the file and pick "New 802.1x Connection"
Then pick Other Configurations from this new menu.
    This brings up this screen.

    Your "Configuration" is "Other"
Your "Network Port" is your AirPort card.
Your "User Name" is your "STUDENT\User ID" from your "MyMail" account. (or your "BUAD\User ID" for faculty and staff)
*** Please note: STUDENT and BUAD are case sensative and need to be in all caps. ***
Your "Password is your current password from your "MyMail" account. (or your "BUAD" password for faculty and staff.)
In "Wireless Networks" type in bloomu
Select Connect and it will ask to accept our Wireless security certificates

After you pick Continue you'll get connected in about 30 seconds after the Status "Authenticating" starts.

You should be ready to use the campus network and internet.
Don't forget to save this configuration to use later when you exit "Internet Connect."

Faculty and Staff Only: You should be ready to use the campus network and internet.
Go ahead and load up your Internet Web Browser (for most, it is Microsoft Internet Explorer) and go to the library website: http://library.bloomu.edu for access to all our online resources.

    General Information

All on campus students will be required to register their computer prior to connecting to our network. In addition, your computer will need to be compliant with the University's network standards to have access to the campus network.   To expedite the registration process, have your default user name and password available (same as your MyMail account, information on locating it can be found here ). You also MUST have an up to date virus scanner If you do not own a registered version of a virus scanner, the University will provide you with a licensed copy upon your arrival (Please note, Trial versions will not be accepted by the registration process.  You must have a fully functional virus scanner to continue with registration).   Furthermore,Windows must have all critical updates and service packs, which can be obtained from the Windows Update web site.  You can not gain access to the campus network until all steps of the registration process are accomplished.
