The residence of Bloomsburg University Presidents since 1926, Buckalew Place is the former home of Charles Buckalew. Buckalew was a United States Senator from 1863-69 and a trustee of the Normal School. The home was bought for $6000 by the Bloomsburg Literary Institute and State Normal School in 1903. In 1926 the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania acquired Buckalew Place for use as the President's home at the newly created Bloomsburg State Teachers College.
