Introduction to Library Research

This is a one-credit online course in which students will learn to perform quality library research.

In this course, students will:

  • Become aware of ethical issues related to the use of information for college level research and writing, such as copyright and plagiarism.

  • Define different information formats and media.

  • Identify and develop a research topic.

  • Create a clear conception of the information sources needed to address a given research topic.

  • Effectively use information resources available through Andruss Library, and elsewhere, to identify and access pertinent information (e.g. online databases, library's online catalog).

  • Critically evaluate Internet-based information for reliability.
