Marilou and her staff in the Cataloging Unit have primary responsibility for the information in the Pilot online catalog for all materials with the exception of government documents (which are the responsibility of the Government Documents Unit). They catalog and physically process all materials, including new books, new journals, and gifts; send books to the bindery; withdraw deselected materials; and maintain Pilot database information.

Marilou has been at Bloomsburg since 1978 and is the senior Library faculty member. An active participant and presenter on cataloging issues with the Keystone Library Network (KLN--the 14 PASSHE university libraries, State Library of PA, and several private institutions), she was lead author and co-administrator of a $142,000 authority control grant which processed the databases of KLN libraries in order to standardize the forms of all names, subjects, and series according to Library of Congress authorized forms. She also co-authored the resulting article describing the grant process which appeared in Cataloging and Classification Quarterly and co-authored a paper on Library of Congress authority control which was presented at a conference of the Polish Librarians Association Indexing and Classification Committee in Warsaw, Poland (published in the conference proceedings). Locally she is organist at the First United Methodist Church of Shickshinny and assistant organist at the First Reformed United Church of Christ in Berwick.
